Here's how it went down...

So, I went in to the auditions, and here's pretty much how it went.

The director and the music director, as well as the artistic director of the theatre gave us all the deal on how the auditions work.

If we're called back they will call us wednesday to come to the callbacks on Sunday. They will send out a thingy in the mail with a song that they want us to sing for the callbacks.

Now, that was a bit different from what I had thought (I thought it was a matter of picking our own song for the callbacks), so I asked the director about it.

"You're sending us the song you want us to sing, right?"
"For the CALLBACKS, yes."
"Right. Cause I thought it was just we pick our own song, and-"
"That's for the AUDITIONS, which are tonight."
"I know. I-"
"See, the CALLBACKS come after the AUDITIONS."

And so I choked down my irritation at the condescencion with which he was speaking to me, and nodded and sat back down.

I went in to do my song, and did it well. They tested my range, and then I went to do my monologue.

I gave him my monologue (this was irritating condescending guy again), and when I was done, he paused and said "Alright, thanks. Hopefully we'll have the dancing ready to go in a little while." And that's all he said.

So we went out to the theatre, and waited for the dancing to start.

The dance instructor was HOTT.

And she taught us the steps to learn for the audition, which made almost no sense to me, cause ITW is not a dancing show. There's maybe one scene where dancing is involved, and it's not a big dancing scene, either, so I don't even know why we did it.

Anyway, that sucked for me.

So, quick recap. The director talked to me like I'd never been on the stage in my life (I've actually spent the last three years nonstop on the stage), and my dancing sucked.

I'm not overly optimistic, so we'll see how it goes tomorrow.
