One time, see, I was walking my dog, see, and she rushed ahead of me to sniff an oddly-colored section of the sidewalk a ways ahead of us. Just when she lowered her nose to sniff the thing, it hopped up into the air in front of her. My dog, Pepper, was terrified. She ran back to me and cowered behind my legs. Turns out that what had startled her was a very large yellow/gray moth that was, for some reason, basking in the shade in the middle of a path. I tried to stroke its back, but it did the little hop again, never flying away. I was afraid that it was injured. However, insectophile that I am, I wasn't about to pick up something that big. When we continued our walk and passed it, my dog gave it as wide a berth as she could, walking out into the street.
