Murkon's Refuge: Level 5 is too tough for me?

I decided to go exploring level 5 for the second time since I reached Kaliti. What happened was that I got to a really long horizontal corridor and when I went through a doorway, a group of monsters (mainly Zombies and Dragons) massacred my entire party.

My party was dragged back to Kaliti, where I found out that I could not afford to resurrect any of them. Rather than make new characters and use them instead, I sold some equipment off my characters until I could resurrect the cheapest one (my level 11 Sorcerer).

I then used the Sorcerer to climb back to Perinn through levels 4, 2 and 1, which was pretty easy. There I returned to my basic resurrection formula:

1) Go to level 2, enter the really big hall.

2) Go to the opposite edge, killing everything you encounter.

3) Return back to the door, killing everything you encounter.

4) Return to Perinn and use your treasure to resurrect more characters.

5) Repeat as necessary.

I managed to sell Gloves of Dexterity +2, which was enough for me to resurrect my whole party. Now they are back in Kaliti and I still haven't explored the whole of level 5.

Is my party good enough? Currently it includes:

Human Wizard (level 12), Human Knight (level 12), Wind Elf Rogue (level 12), Rock Elf Knight (level 11), Troll Knight (level 11), Wind Elf Sorcerer (level 11)
