Reviews and Comments

A guy dies, uninteresting suspects are lined up, a mystery happens, Jimmy Chan falls down, and there's a pathetically staged climactic wrestling showdown with the killer. By Dangerous Money, the Charlie Chan films were so deeply rooted in their formula, so accustomed to retreading it time and again, that all semblance of the magic that made it work so well in the early days was long gone. It's as if the screenwriters triple checked that the story had all the proper elements of a Charlie Chan mystery but forgot to verify that it was entertaining or worthwhile. Of course, the series' plummeting budget didn't help either.
