Charlie Chan seldom ever solved a case for his employer, the Honolulu police department. In this series entry, Chan is about to return home after a trip to England but gets sidetracked by a young woman's cry for help. Her brother is in jail for a murder she insists he didn't commit, and she wants Chan to find the real killer. The main attraction of this episode is the presence of a very young Ray Milland.
