Don't think I'm attacking you, Eric, because I have no intentions of doing that, but I have a question. Why do people have guns in their houses? I don't get it. If the gun is loaded, that's just an accident waiting to happen. If the gun isn't loaded, then it's not going to do much good if you're trying to protect yourself from a bad guy who suddenly bursts through the door and takes you hostage. If the gun is loaded but is safely locked away to prevent accidents, you probably won't have enough time to find the key or fiddle with the combination before either your nerves or the bad guys get to you.

As a side note, if this becomes a gun control thread, I will go buy a gun and shoot the responsible parties.
