Halloween already?

I am tired of the "holiday" industry. A month away from Halloween and people had decorations out on their porches and lawns and roofs and garages and doghouses and telephone poles. Some people even have Halloween lights strung on their house. Isn't the point of Halloween to have one night to scare people, to set up your graveyard out front with dry ice fog flowing out of the cauldron and hidden ghouls jumping out to make you jump back while your heart jumps out of your chest (which is a good effect, too). Driving by these houses every day for a month, seeing the wires and the garbage bag witch kind of takes away the mood of seeing it for the first time at night. I know that Christmas decorations can get to be kind of gaudy but I believe that most people who put up Christmas decorations just put up lights. This usually adds to the neighborhood glow coming from other houses and is rather pleasant to my eye. I don't know but the last time I checked, having graveyards with corpses lying about for a month or so is not appealing to most people. Keep it inside until a day or two before. I don't need to see the skeletons in your closet except for one or two days a year.

And, speaking of Halloween, I swear that I saw a man dressed up like Spiderman yesterday. In a certain context this might not be unusual but it was 7:30 a.m. and he was standing next to a white truck and a cow pasture with nothing else around. Except for the person he was hugging.
