Like so many other people, I have a collection of state quarters. In a hundred years or so, they might be worth 35 cents, so I guess people collect them just for the fun of it.

I have 37, so far. Texas and the Dakotas are the only ones that I don't have, that have already been released. I don't go searching, I just check my change from time to time.

I wonder if we need a reader poll question about state quarters? Some are fantastic, and others are ho-hum, but most are in between. A lot of people have favorites. It might depend on where you live, or where you were born, but Tennessee and Kentucky are not my favorites, so maybe that isn't important.

After more than 60 years of coin collecting, I have come to regard coins as art. Their value is not a big issue. I have some foreign coins that are absolutely worthless, but because I like them, they stay in the collection.

I got a new coin the other day. My daughter brought it from Iceland. It shows a fish on the back with 1 KR above it. The front says EIN KRONA, which might be Icelandic for "one buck,"
or "one cent."

There is also a bearded guy with a staff and a sour look on his face. Maybe it's Neptune, or one of the Viking explorers who discovered Iceland. His beard and hair make his head look almost like an rectangle. He appears to be wearing a some type of flowing robe. He looks great alongside Simon Bolivar on some South
American coins.
