Fleming books or Bond books in general? There aren't a lot of Fleming books that haven't been used somehow. Moonraker is a good example, but there are problems with using a lot of the others. The Spy Who Loved Me (book) is not very commercial, and only the title was sold to EON with the rights to film the Bond series anyway. The Live and Let Die movie wasn't too close to the book, but Licence To Kill used more of that material.

An embarrassing moment in the series, to be sure. But it came out in 1979. *Everything* that came out in 1979 had to be set in space. The movie that would follow The Spy Who Loved Me was originally supposed to be For Your Eyes Only, but then Star Wars came out. As bad as Moonraker is, I'm actually glad it worked out that way, because For Your Eyes Only is one of my favorite Bond movies, and it would not have turned out that way except that the filmmakers consciously understood Moonraker to be an artistic failure (though a commercial success) and purposely took the series in the opposite direction.

Dave and I always get into this thing about what the worst Bond movie is. He says it's Moonraker. I say it's the Man With the Golden Gun, because, while certainly Golden Gun isn't as *spectacular* a failure, I don't think there is ANYTHING good about Golden Gun, while I can say exactly four good things about Moonraker: (1) the first three quarters of the pre-credits scene, not only suspenseful but ground-breaking free-fall effects at the time, (2) the centrifuge scene, (3) the attack dogs scene, and (4) the title theme music.

Hmmm. Someone started a Bond thread. I can tell by how much I just typed.
