Somebody invent a transporter beam. Please. posted by Brunnen-G on Thursday, August 29, 2002, at 17:50:41:
> It was a six hour plane flight from Sam and Leen's house to LA, three hours waiting around the airport there, then 14 hours from LA to home. I got in just before 5 a.m. and adjusted to local time instantly. After getting back to my flat, I spent most of the day doing laundry and cleaning, restocking the fridge and all that boring post-holiday stuff.
My schedule for leaving those most united of states went along the lines of: (PST in these bendy bar things)
7:00am - Get up. 8:30am - Go to the airport. 12:10pm - Get on a plane. 6:00pm (4:00pm) - Land in Texas, barely half a country away after four hours of traveling. 7:00pm (5:00pm) - Get on a slightly bigger plane. 10:00am (2:00am) - Land in London. noon (4:00am) - Get on a smaller coach. 5:00pm (9:00am) - Get home.
And still I wasn't jetlagged. I went to bed at night and woke up the next morning at 7.
> I think there must be something wrong with me, because I love hanging around airports
There's something wrong with me, too. I don't like being in airports, but I do like being in them. Maybe it's a weird masochism thing, but I like to explore the area and watch people miss their planes.
> even when it's the third one in two days' continual travel and I've been hauled out of the queue as a suspicious character and re-searched at every single checkpoint.
Oddly, I got through security without any problem. Maryam was stopped twice for Aiding and Abetting a Known Foreigner, however.
