The Pink Panther (1964)

Reviews and Comments

The first film to feature the bumbling French detective Inspector Clouseau concentrated less on him and more on the villain, the Phantom. When it became apparent that Peter Sellers' Clouseau was stealing all the scenes, he was made the star of a sequel, A Shot In the Dark. This first outing is a decent comedy, but many of the gags run too long. The next few sequels were better, but the original is still head and shoulders above the entries in the tail end of the series.
