In this neck of the woods, a car that will, "Git on up a hill," is one with plenty of power. Certain hills are known for putting a car to the test. Most are named for an early resident who lived near there.

Pickel Hill is on highway 11 between here and town. Browder Hill, also on hwy 11, is between Lenoir City and Loudon. So this morning we went to Loudon and went up both hills. We only had 36 horsepower, because we were driving our vintage Volkswagen. I started up Pickel Hill in top gear at 40 mph. At the top it was still going 40. I was impressed, but Browder Hill was waiting, just on the other side of town. It's not much steeper, but twice as long. I started up Browder Hill at 45 and maintained that speed all the way to the top.

So I guess I'd have to say that our little 49-year-old bug will git on up a hill.

As you might expect, the expression is somewhat out of date except when talking about antique cars. Any 21st Century car will breeze up those hills with ease.
