I don't go to the movies much, but I did today. Since our grandson is visiting, we let him pick it, and we saw "Cars."

It took me a while to like it, but by the time it ended, I felt like I got my money's worth.

But there are a few minor problems. A lot of it is going to go right over heads. I had the advantage of being a car buff and racing fan for a lot of years. I saw things that some will miss. I can remember when Hudson Hornets with "Twin H Power" were the terror of the speedways. They even raced on dirt tracks. I know Mario Andretti's voice. Also Richard Petty, Dale Earnhardt, Jr., Darrell Waltrip, and many more people who get interviewed from week to week.

The animation blows my mind.

Another surprise was that the eight-year-old beside me was singing along during all the songs in the movie. He knew every word.

Would I recommend "Cars?" Yes, but NASCAR fans will understand it better than most folks.
