My generation can remember a time when you pulled into a service station and they would pump you gas for you, check your tires, check your oil and water, clean the windshield, take your money inside and bring back your change. You only paid for the gas and oil, if any. A really good service station attendent would wipe off your headlights and tail lights. They would thank you for your business and never expected a tip.
