DO NOT JUMP before accessing the secret area. I think - although I'm not certain - that if you jump and then try to finish the recipe and access the area, the game won't let you. Not sure, but it's best to get it done before the big jump.

I have the unpleasant suspicion that the item you're referring to is the ONE item that I can never remember (since it's the hardest one to figure out). I do know that some of the items can't be obtained til after you've read the recipe and will know to steal said items when you go back to their locations, and that one requires another trip through time.

Could you repost your latest inventory (spoiler items abbreviated)? Might help tell us what you've dropped in so far and jog people's memories as to what you need to get next.
