Ladies and gentleman, coming direct to you, live from the Apollo Theatre in beautiful downtown whereveritis...

He's the man... he's the myth... he's the legend... You know him, you know love him... put your hands together as we begin...

THE WOLVERINE SHOW!

Seriously, when did X-men become more about Wolverine than anyone else?

I could care less, cause I've never liked him, and the movies only took it a step farther by portraying the X-team as a group of people who couldn't bake bread without Wolverine there to help them.

They got along fine for twenty years without him. So make a movie about the X-MEN, and not WOLVERINE.

Anyway, let's see... X-Men 3, where to start?

I don't know if they were just stuck for plot ideas, so they just combined two or three other storylines or what, but we have the Phoenix showing up, AND the Hope Serum showing up. Either one, if fleshed out, could, I think, be it's own movie, but no, let's just combine the two.

ANYWAY.

I was rather unsatisfied, but for reasons I can't go into without spoiling the movie. It just seemed like the director said "Eh, it's the last movie in the trilogy... we can do WHATEVER WE WANT to the characters." And, God help us, he did.

This movie is, undoubtedly, the worst of the three. I don't know that others will see it that way, but if you want their opinion, ask them. I personally felt that the movie was way over the top, trying to be something that it's not. I think it tried hard to be a Greek Tragedy, but just came off all corny.

Juggernaut makes an appearance played by the Manchester United Fanatic from Eurotrip (Vinny Jones, I think is his name), and gets defeated after doing absolutely nothing.

Multiple Man is there as well, only as a bad guy (?) and he serves one purpose and then disappears for the rest of the movie. It's not even a purpose that makes sense in the context of the movie. And besides, doesn't Multiple Man have to have some sort of contact in order to Multiply?

Colossus (a non-Russian Colossus), Shadowcat and Beast all show up, but without really doing anything noteworthy. Well, Beast technically does at the end, but it's something that fits in with everything else that's disappointed me throughout the movie.

And then, of course, there's my whole gripe with the Wolverine thing.

And the last show of the movie, from the moment the last scene starts, I knew what was going to happen. It's one of those cliché things that everyone recognizes will happen, and it does, and are we surprised?

Not really.

All in all, I think it was just done quite poorly, and for a movie franchise that started out as nice houseguests to have over, but then left by saying goodbye while pocketing the silver and leaving greasy fingerprints all over everything.

I give it an E5 rating. If you feel you HAVE to see it, don't pay too much for the privilege.
