The one thing that does drive me crazy is when the "pro-immigration" people state things about how we (the U.S.) don't want immigrants. The issue here isn't immigration, it is *illegal* immigration. I heard a number that we allowed over 1 million people to come here as legal immigrants last year (that number might be low but it was at least 1 million).

Maybe we are smarter than the original inhabitants. They would have been better off if my ancestors had been told to get back on that ship and go home.

But the Mexicans, like the rest of us, decended from people from all over the place. Some of our(Mexicans included) ancestors got here recently and other have been here a long time. We are not really that different. But there is that little muddy river that seems to separate the haves from the have-nots and I don't really see why that river is such a big deal.

I think illegal immigration shouldn't be necessary. There should be a quick easy way to cross that river legally. Certainly, we need to screen immigrants, and temporary border crossers. Our security depends on it. But it should not cost a lot of money or take years and years.

I've seen what Mexican workers have done for this county. We need them.

If we build that Berlin wall, it won't be long until there are machine guns and nasty incidents.

We need to ask ourselves why the Mexican border is a big deal and the Canadian border isn't.
