> We have had horrible weather here in Tennessee. We saw some small hail and wind with 3 inches of rain, but west of here there were a lot of injuries and fatalities. Emergency responders acted quickly and conditions are improving, but a lot of people lost their homes and businesses. FEMA will likely arrive in July.

I read a report; I think it was on CNN.com; in it scientists said that these increasingly worse hurricane seasons are part of a natural cycle-- a cycle that takes hundreds of years to run its course. The report said that eventually, our global weather would return to a calmer pattern, but that it wasn't going to happen within our lifetime.

Our pastor and a group of young people from our church just returned from a work week at a camp in Missouri. Most of their time there was spent repairing damage done to the buildings during recent hailstorms. The day after they arrived there was another storm that knocked out the power. We were shown before and after pictures of some of the work that they did; I was amazed at the amount of damage that the camp director's home had suffered. The vinyl siding was pockmarked with holes, and there were places where the decorative shutters had been pulverized and fallen right off the house. I believe they had to replace the roof as well.

They spent a lot of time cleaning up brush that had been knocked loose from the trees around the camp too, and several trees that had either fallen or had to be pulled down and chopped up due to storm damage.
