I don't think skills are hereditary. Just about any Mom can learn to cook, almost all of them do.

One thing for sure, most of the skills my children have could not have come from me. The boys both build houses, fix cars, and excel at math. The girls are good at business and have artistic tallents that I never had. Our youngest son runs a business and our older daughter does wood working and maintence work around the house. Our older boy has an engineering degree and does plumbing, and electrical work.

My only talent is bragging on our children.

But back to cooking. My mother could not cook when she married, so my father, who could, taught her. By the time I came along she was a great cook.

And naturally, I think my wife is a world class chef. If you want to see a ton of food disappear suddenly, you need to come around when all of the kids and grandkids are here.

I have a feeling it's the same at Koalamom's house.
