There's a really nice musical stage rendering of "A Christmas Carol" that we did my last year in undergrad, but the composers' and creators' names never stuck with me. Virtually none of the songs are stand-alones, all fairly closely tied to points in the story, but an overall nice show. And, well, it was a privilege to be part of such a tail-kicking production of it, too [the lighting guy won a regional award, and two actresses were nominated for the Irene Ryan acting award, the main American honor available in college acting]. I even got to be the first guy in nearly 25 years to share a scene with the theater department head. Rock!

Anyway, for all the worthy acclaim Gilbert & Sullivan receive for their seafaring musicals, The Mikado is my favorite (no doubt because it's the better of theirs i've been in, Trial by Jury being the other and much weaker).

With reservations, I've always wanted to see a stage rendering of My Fair Lady. I say with reservations, because short of the phenomenal but completely tone-deaf Rex Harrison, there's noone but myself that i'd really want to see in the role of Higgins. So maybe if i could just watch the parts he's NOT in. Hmm ...
