I guess the system is kind of like my car. I drove it 150 miles today and it got me home. So it worked. But it isn't perfect. It has 95,000 miles on it and the front struts are shot so that it wanders around in a crosswind. Also the throttle sticks in the up position requiring a kick that makes it jump and sometimes it even squawks the tires. It's a long way from perfect.
Our election process is imperfect because sometime the man who gets the most votes doesn't become president. But the system works, because we get an American in the White House and the country remains a functioning democracy. Even people who don't like the president realize that he is doing the best he can. Maybe someone else could do a better job. Maybe not.
