It was to vote that Florida's vote tallies -- whether by the original count or by any of the various recounts, *all* of which Bush won by a majority of votes from the state of Florida -- were to stand. For someone who favors a straight majority vote on the national level, you seem pretty opposed to it on the state level.

Just a note... I was reading the news the other day and came across an article about Ralph Nader. Apparently, he is considering running again for President, but as an independent this time instead of a member of the Green party. The article mentioned that he is sick and tired of people saying that his winning 1.5% of the vote in Florida handed the election to Bush.

I thought he had a good point -- Gore himself defeated Gore. Why doesn't anyone ever mention that whilst the Florida election counts were admittedly razor thin (560 some-odd votes, if I recall), if Al had merely carried his home state of Tennessee, this would have all been a non-issue and we would have a President Gore for real right now.

You know, it has been three-and-a-half years ago since the election. I say we drop the thing.
