My parents have always been open and honest with me (not to say that everything they said was true, but if they said it, they believed it), and I believe that if I had a sibling that I had not known about some time ago, I would have known about this person by now. Another reason is that, if they had had a previous child, they wouldn't have tried for another at 39 (dad) and 36 (mom).

I don't think it's really fair to say she should wonder what else is hidden. I mean, if the daughter had no had prior contact with her father, than it doesn't seem strange to me that the daughter was never brought up to Luisa. I can totally see why the parents didn't feel it was a necessary piece of information at a younger age. And just like Luisa said, it was hard for her to accept it because her step-sister was so far away. Perhaps that was some of their reasoning.

Just a thought.
