I tend to be more oriented towards people than scenery, so I can't really tell you much about the flights, but I could tell you in excruciating detail (I won't) of what my family and I were wearing--people got more dressed up to travel in those days and we had all new outfits for the big occasion. I remember our stop off at JFK and the colorful modern plastic bucket-type seats in the concourse. When I was there again about ten years ago, I was slightly amused to see them still around (although the worse for wear and looking dated now, I think). This was my Mom's first flight too. Years later she told me that she had been very nervous to fly, but I guess she did a good job of hiding her anxiety because at the time I had no idea she was anything but confident.
