I'm not fluent in any foreign languages, but I'm horribly incompetent at several. ;)

Seriously, though, I wonder if there are common established translations out there for certain common chat room functions (like "join", "away", etc.). There should be a fair number of chat rooms out there in other languages, and if there's a commonly accepted set of translations for these common terms in a particular language, then using them would probably both save time and provide more consistency with other foreign language chat rooms.

If Etienne shows up again sometime, he might be able to do the French translation, although that would be Québecois French and I'm not sure how much that differs from plain French. I don't know who else would know French here.
