Wow, that's startling. I didn't know her, nor did I read the
LiveJournal until just now. But it was a depressing read
nonetheless, and a bit of a curiousity-provoker as well. I
mean, I can't help but wonder what would drive a person to
this, but I know better than to ask. I understand that it's
none of my business, and I totally respect that. I doubt I'd
ask even if she was a close friend of mine. Still, I've never
heard of any decision quite like this one before.

Analytical old me's got to wonder how anyone could ever
just *stop* using the Internet. Especially at this point in
time, with nearly every speculation of future
technology (and civilization) pointing squarely at the web.
To just go offline forever seems like an impossible
suggestion. Or did I misunderstand the LiveJournal post?
Maybe she's staying online, but severing all her past
connections and relationships, deleting all her accounts,
and starting anew with a different pseudonym. I can't see
why anyone would do this, either, but it would be a real
undertaking to delete one identity and try to birth another.
And I'm not talking about ang specifically either, as I don't
wish to poke my nose where it doesn't belong. I'm really
just speaking hypothetically; a move of this magnitude
*away* from cyberspace would be incredibly hard to do,
and definitely an action with so many consequences that
one could spend hours thinking about its effects.

I don't mean to sound cold about this at all. I recognize the
seriousness of ang's decision and I was deeply moved by
her LiveJournal post and the comments by her friends.
From my little contact with her here on the RinkWorks
forum, I can say that I will miss reading her messages. I
hope that her new life will be a blessed one, and wish her
all the best in staying faithful to this difficult commitment.
