I've got to say that I really respect this attitude. I can get
sucked into the TV for hours on end, a hypnotized couch
potato, and I hate it. It doesn't matter if I'm watching
movies, documentaries, or the news, it's the same effect. I
would love to live without a TV someday, but I doubt it
would ever be possible. It's such a mainstay in today's
culture that it's almost unavoidable. There's a ton of
information available exclusively on TV that I'd really miss
without access to it. But I can't say that it's worth wading
through the filth and stupidity that pervades modern
entertainment in order to get to it.

I'm still living at home with Mom and Dad, so I don't have
any control over the presence of a TV now. But I'll be
moving out soon, probably this fall, and I'll have to make
this decision for myself. I hope that I can take a stand as
bold as yours on this issue. It really shows strength of
character.
