"The Player" ends like this, pretty much exactly. Strangely enough, so does "Arlington Road," which also has Tim Robbins as the bad guy. Coincidence? I don't think so -- Tim Robbins *always* wins. Except for "Mission to Mars," in which he loses by virtue of the fact that he was in it.
