Some people would feel insulted to take a waitressing job when they're very well-qualified for something better, but it is something to consider. I work about fifteen hours a week, and I make enough money to live on. If you worked just thirty, you could make a decent amount (not a desirable way to make a living, but it's working for me until I'm done with college). I work at a restaurant and make about as much an hour as my mom did as a nurse.

It's certainly not an ideal job, but it can be fun. Especially if you like to watch people (not in the stalker sense). I've learned a lot about relating to people and keeping my temper in check around really horrid people (which I'm sure will come in handy). And it is so much fun to watch rednecks look at me in confusion when I tell them I'm majoring in mechanical engineering (what? a yung purty thing lahk you can work with them thar numbers? well tickle mah britches...). So, like I said, if you really really really need a job, don't rule out waitressing.
