Eric that you don't "eat" chewing gum; don't
purposely swallow or digest it, and if you do,
gain no nutritional value from it.

Many people who are trying to quit smoking
use chewing gum as a benign substitute for
cigarettes. The same thing could be said for
people who are trying to quit using chewing
tobacco. Would you classify chewing tobacco
as "food," just because it goes in your mouth
and you chew it up, and sometimes you
accidentally swallow it? Absolutely not.

Chewing gum is not food.
