A further point

> 3) Equipment shop prices in the deeper towns are only slightly higher than in Perrin, but the clinic prices are significantly so. Stick with Perrin until you're fairly confident that you can be resurrected. If you're all killed and dropped back at Kaliti, you'll have big bills; if there's any chance of getting through the monsters back to Perrin, you might want to try it, just to save on all that money.

Money management is extremely important. In the early stages of the game it's best to buy as little equipment as you can get away with, you'll equip your party comfortably enough with plunder.
Save your money for unfortunate accidents.

And try to ensure that you don't get killed. If you're thinking about trying something dangerous (a deeper level, say), and you don't have the cash for multiple resurrections, then *don't do it*. Hack around for a while, get some money and experience (it's amazing how much difference having a powerful spell available can make), try to work out better strategies for the harder monsters on your current level. A little tedious in the short term, but it pays off later.
