the big search

Ever since the space shuttle disaster there have been large numbers of searchers tramping through the woods and swamps of several Gulf coast states.
They are searching for clues in the widely scattered wreckage of the spacecraft. But what else are they finding?

The search area varies from rural to wilderness. Some of these places are perfect hidding places, so I wonder what else they are finding. How can they help but run across a few missing persons, illegal agricultural operations, stolen vehicles, illegal manufacturing sites, and who knows what all. That area was at one time known for moonshine and there may still be a few stills operating there, but pot farms, meth labs, illegal fireworks factories, chop shops, and even terrorist training camps may be in those woods. And think about all of the people who disappear in this country every year. I wonder how many dead bodies per square mile, might be expected.

But you never hear about anything unrelated to the shuttle. That is strange. I know the searchers are focused, but they aren't blind.
