Like everyone else has said, it totally depends on the company. I, for example, work in an office where it's perfectly acceptable to wear jeans, but where we also dress in skirts and nylons every now and then.

I would definitely say nice slacks and a blouse or sweater for the interview, at least, and notice what everyone else is wearing and take your cue from that.
