But, again, it's not pronouncing the word that's hard, it's figuring out the pronunciation from the spelling. It's the spelling's fault again, not the pronunciation.

Not that I imagine words like "strengths" would be easy to pronounce if you're coming from a language where every consonant is followed by a vowel (such as Hawaiian or, for the most part, Japanese).
