That phrase doesn't seem to work as a joke any more, unfortunately. Back in '93, I tried using Berra's statement jokingly, but only got remarks about being redundant.

So either my delivery was in the wrong tone and therefore was not effective, or else the people with who I was speaking were somewhat ignorant. I would be inclined to state the latter.
