"that old truck"

Last spring, at a scooter meet, I was talking to someone -I forgot who - and
they said, "Do you still have that old truck?" I guess I went blank,
while I tried to figure out what he was talking about. Actually, my
truck is not new. It's a '95 model and at that time had about
105,000 miles on it. But it's a Toyota and still takes me to scooter
meets without any problems. The only parts I have bought for it in
almost 8 years, have been wiper blades, tires and filters. So it had
never entered my mind that it was an old truck. I usually drive any
vehicle about ten years before I even think about a new one. That's
200,000 miles or more. I replaced my first truck at 130,000 miles
because it was becoming unreliable. The Toyota is only the second
truck I have ever had. Cars I've owned, like Subarus and Toyotas, seem
to run on forever without reliability problems.

I was really caught off guard when he asked about my "old truck." But the numbers don't lie. 1995 from 2002 is still seven and going on eight, and the odometer said 111,113 miles when I looked at it yestereday.
