Well I woke one morning, and I need a hit, So I went into a drawer, and poured out a bit Of the smooth, the stuff, the drug, The happy in a bottle that I hug, And chug, The orange mead, The juice of the seed, Yeah Dayquil. I chug-a-lug and stay still, 'Cause my day's filled, With good will, From Dayquil.
Well, I got into my car and drove to work Where the Jerk lurks, I asked him for a raise, and he said it was a perk, And I better get to work, What a jerk.
So I was cruisin' down the aisles, The cube aisles, The paper files, The yuppie styles, Lots of miles To my cube, My cube, Don't tell me I'm a goob, 'Cause it's my cube.
But you gotta be tough, 'cause it's rough, And you gotta have the stuff, 'Cause all of a sudden and out of the blue, The lender said it's due, and I mean you.
His name was Colonel Alvin Bennington-Jones, And when I forgot my lunch I hit him up for a loan, Hold the phone, Yeah a loan from Mr. Jones. I said I don't have it now, No, I don't have it now, Don't hit me up for it now, But wait for tomorrow, please, please, you'll see, I'll have every penny of your dollar fifty three, And he said OK. He said OK. It's OK, 'Cause he said OK.
My singin' is phat, but where're we at? The drugs, then the streets, then the women, Oh yes, the women, It be crimpin' To miss the women.
Well, I was walking one day in the streets at night, I was looking for ice ('Cause my cooler is nice, But it's gotta have ice), When I saw a pretty lady with a pocket-book. I took a look, I took a look, And her handkerchief dropped, It dropped, On the ground it bopped, Yeah it plopped, So I hopped, Picked it up, Said, "Here, this dropped. It dropped."
She looked at me with her green eyes, And woman sighs, And "Oh my"s, And said, "Thank you." She said, "Thank you." Well I won't say if, as I handed it, her hands touched. A gentleman like me don't talk about that much.
But I'm just a homey on the mean streets, The lean streets, The beat, A homey in the hood, that's me on the street. You gotta be tough, 'cause it's rough, On the mean streets.
Like, one time I saw a guy And I said hi And he said go away, Yeah, go away! It was rude, And I brood And I stewed It was rude, But that's what you get when you greet On the street.
Word up the synergy, homey.
