> You're quite correct. My eyes are pretty bad without my contacts, but even with them, I still can't read the entire 20/40 line. After I fail that, they make me take this other test in a machine, which makes them believe that my eyesight is about 20/100. It's really about 20/45, but they don't have enough of the size lines, so they don't know that. It's stupid.

Um, it sounds like you need a new eye doctor. My eyes are -10 and -11 and I've had my driver's license for more than seven years without once retaking the test. I even have the same picture, too, and I haven't been back in the Department of Motor Vehicles since I first took my driver's test at age 16.

I went for years without being able to see 20/20, and I was told I just would never be able to see perfectly. But then I went to a different eye doctor, and that made all the difference.
