I'm not a boy scout per se...

That is, I wasn't a member of Boy Scouts Canada. I was under the ASC. Wich is different in that that we... Speak French, mostly. Also, we don't have a sash, not as many badges, and the girls are integrated (We have some coed units, too... I was in one)

I did 3 years as a cub scout, 6 month as a scout (Long story...), 3 years as a pionner scout (14-17) and I'm in my second year as a leader.

I learned a truckload of useful skill. And about two knots, wich do not include the grrrrr! knot you use to tie an anchor line to the boat. And that's the one I had to use three times.

But yea, mapreading (Wonder why no one of my troop failed THAT part of the navigation course we had to take), tent pitching, and group logistic! God, that's useful!

-How to pack a car correctly (Read : 'til the suspension drop)
-Organizing transport
-Organizing food (Preparation, getting, conservation, peanuts butter and knifes(If you've been in a older scout troop, or a leader, you know what I mean) and the plates to eat them in)
-Using everybody's capacities for what they are (IE, the 4'11 girl doesn't carry the canoe. She reads the map.)

And I'm not getting to being a leader.

You learn lots of stuff. It's a good movement. I enjoy it :)

Oh, and it's a heck of a lot of fun.

'tienne
