I've never had a problem with a cow, but I have been attacked by a goat and a pony.

The goat was at a city farm when I was about 5. It's one of my clearest memories from my childhood, and is of unrelenting terror. Basically, this goat had managed to get its horns underneath my coat, and had enough strength in its neck to shake me around in an attept to disloge me. My parents thought I'd been gored, apparently.

The horse (or maybe it was a pony) was a year or two later, when we were visiting relatives on the Shetland Isles (about 200 miles north of Scotland), and I was wandering around a field, giving apples to these horses, when one of them, entirely unprovoked, lunged at me and bit my back. I had huge toothmark bruises for a week. And that was through several layers of warm clothing.
