It's a fast route to drive at night, when there are no commuters, but there's a good reason why, when we drove from Boston to DC for the first RinkUnion, we took I-84 from Connecticut west to Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, then I-80 / I-81 south through Maryland. Going that way, it's practically nothing BUT country and small towns, even the New York part.

Notice that sam leaves out that part about I-91 through Hartford. That was the part where we sat in traffic for two hours without moving, which SOMEONE SMART may have said was going to happen. Too bad no one listened to him, huh? Everyone else was all "no, Hartford will be fine." So he just said "okay, we'll go that way," and got proved right.

But he also got to laugh at the puppet-people in the car in front of him, so it was okay. :-}
