I just cooked the last four strips of bacon in a package that had been lying around in the refrigerator for, I don't know, maybe four weeks. The last time I cooked some from that package was around the 24-25th of August, when Brunnen-G was visiting. It was fine then. But when I cooked the last four strips just now, the smell was unmistakable: wet dog.

Well, I'm no bacon-shelf-life authority, but I suspect it doesn't really spoil too badly, since the whole purpose of curing meats is that they will keep longer that way. Cured, refrigerated meat I suspect would remain edible for quite a long time.
