I just cooked the last four strips of bacon in a package that had been lying around in the refrigerator for, I don't know, maybe four weeks. The last time I cooked some from that package was around the 24-25th of August, when Brunnen-G was visiting. It was fine then. But when I cooked the last four strips just now, the smell was unmistakable: wet dog.

Was there a "use before" date on the package? The nice thing about bacon, is that it will let you know when it's too old to eat. It will stink when it's cooked. Toss it. Country ham, on the other hand, has a long, long shelf life. And it *always* stinks when you cook it.
How"What do I know about cooking?"ard
