Are the bittersweet emotions I feel as the seasons change shared by everyone, or are they a product of my profession? My husband says he feels the same way as I do, but has little choice, living with a teacher and two students. I'd love to know how others feel.

I have to say that things have really changed since those school days for me. I've only been out of college a couple of years now, but it seems to be enough time passed to make this observation.

The only thing that really affects me is that the school busses start coming and I have to be careful to watch how I time my ride to and from work. This is how it goes... if I leave at 6:55 I'll get to work by 7:20, but if I leave at 7:00 I won't arrive until 7:40. Amazing the difference 5 minutes make, eh?

Anyway, I don't feel the sudden urge to buy more supplies anymore, and I don't get the anxious/scared/sick feeling I used to get before the first day. I do however look forward to bringing out the winter clothes, tromping in the leaves (not to be mistaken with raking the leaves, which I hate) and the warm cozy sparkle of a fireplace fire.

So, even if I'm not in the school mode, I am certainly getting into the autumn mode. And I'm as excited about it as I can be. :)
