Here in Central Florida, Japanese is quite obscure. Nobody seems to know anything about it, and it's certainly not offered at any local high schools or colleges. I asked my guidance counselor if there was any way I could learn it for college credit and she basically said that I'm out of luck. So I'm taking Spanish instead. Spanish is *very* common around here. I don't mind it so much, but I'd still like to learn Japanese someday... even if it doesn't officially count for college credit. I rank personal growth higher than written credentials anyway.
