Hmm. Fun. Yes. Having defeated the Gatekeeper once, I stupidly didn't open the treasure chest he left me with, thereby leaving the Key behind. Of course, I didn't realise that the door was still locked until much later...

Anyway, I've defeated him now, and got through. Thanks for the tip. Oh yes, and I think it is rather unfair to charge me a couple of hundred gold just for a bed for the night...
