These are subjects about which I cannot HELP being cynical, for goodness' sake. I just really hope that I have a marker who is receptive to humour and sarcasm, or my teachers will be asking me rather searching questions...

I had a stupid question like that on a test, once. It was on the Writing Skills Test, a required test for everyone in the CSU system, so they can make sure that you can write at least semi-intelligibly. I wish they would have had some way for people to get out of it, but there wasn't, so I had to waste a morning on the stupid thing. The proctor for my exam room, incidentally, sounded just like Natasha from Rocky and Bullwinkle. I kept expecting her to say something about moose and squirrel.

In any case, we did the multiple choice part (which was just easy grammar/spelling/reading comprehension stuff, like the Verbal section of the SAT) and then they passed out the essay. This essay question was STUPID. In past writing tests, they've done something like given you a quote about the American Dream (actual example) and had you go into that.

This question was, more or less: "How do you feel about American television? How do you feel the major (non-cable) networks control the quality of programming, and do you believe their programming fills the entertainment needs of the viewing public? Give examples."

I don't WATCH TELEVISION, Exam Writers, nor could I care less. Grah. Their assumption that everyone *darn well should* know about this subject and that they linked this useless knowledge *to my attaining upper division standing* almost offended me. Stupid, stupid, stupid.

So I wrote a very sarcastic essay, but apparently it was good quality sarcasm, because I passed with flying colors. Good thing, too.

Sosi"done with the semester today. w00t."qui
