The worst test question I know of was on an IQ test for first graders. (I heard this from an absolutely livid first grade teacher.) The kids had to match words with pictures. One picture was a shoe and the correct answer was "oxford." None of the first graders had ever heard a shoe called an oxford, a name that might have been used in the 1920's. Not only did they all miss it, there were some who were very upset because the word "shoe," wasn't there.

There was a different test the next year.
