Perhaps someone here could offer me some help:

Ok, so I have some major computer troubles.

Started like this:

I sat down to use my computer after it had been idle for about 2 hours, it had frozen up with a blank screen so I rebooted. At the POST it did not recognize my primary ide device (the hard drive of course...) and so I powered down and let it sit for a min or so. This has happened once before and after a few mins of being powered down it worked fine. That was about a month ago and I have been trouble free ever since. Well, it did not work after I powered it down, I went into CMOS and reset everything to factory and tried again. Nope. Powered down for a bit and then it booted, recognizing the drive.

It booted into windows but the resolution was down to 640x480 with really low colours and it was no longer recognizing my USB mouse. It then gave me blue screen as Norton loaded and locked up and would not reboot with alt-ctrl-del. It did this again and once again.

I opened it up and checked all the connections, they were seated fine. I checked to make sure all the fans were running, yep. I checked the voltage from the power plugs to the periphials, 12v coming from yellow and black and 5v coming from red and black. Not sure anymore what they are supposed to be but that sounds right.

also the USB ports are not recognized/powered

I am running an AMD K6-2 400Mhz processor in a Soyo MB. I have a 30 Gig Western digital Hard driver, a CD-rw, DVD, 512 megs of ram. Enlight mid-tower case with a 300 watt power supply, ATI Rage Fury Pro graphics card, Game Theatre XP sound card, Win98.
