Huh. Then How come I've gotten both rogue items, and three copies of a sorcerer's item of specialness?

Also, I haven't been able to find a short sword with plusses better than 2. Does such a thing exist, or is my rogue doomed to be an incredibly fast but weak-hitting warrior?
